Progress, Funny How It Seems

Life is delicate. Life’s beautiful. Life’s funny. Life’s ugly. Life’s ironic. In life, evolution must occur. Without evolution, life cannot go on. We become slow, we become nonexistent. Therefore, progress must happen. Thus, bold, brave choices must happen. There must be a brave new world. Funny how it seems that, we tend to be afraid from the things we do not fully understand. Maybe that is where Brave New World’s roots come from. Not the future, but the present state of science and civilization in the world. There’s this feeling in Brave New World that the people of the future want to forget about the past. Maybe they don’t, but instead are taught and hypnotized to not dwell upon it. The people, or the Controllers, relinquish the past because they think we are corrupted, we are imperfect. "God in the safe and Ford on the shelves," Ch.17. It makes me think of how our society is being manipulated. If the Controllers maintain the world, does the government maintain ours, in which case, some things will never change. What other secrets do we not know? If God created the world, did Ford create Huxley’s new one? The most important lesson of history is nobody ever learns history’s lesson. Huxley’s vision might not be that far from ours, maybe just around the corner...
