Our looks
Susan Boyle. Do you guys remember her frim Britains got talent? Well if you dont she was an amazing singer. We all judged her when she went up there. We thought that just because she wasnt the most beautiful the she hadd to be horrible. I dont know about you but thinking back to that i remeber how surprised i was when i heard her voice. welli think she got more media attention about her looks than her talent.Going back to chapter 1 of Amusing Ourselves To Death, i remember postman saying that our media is based on look. They only put the most beutiful on tv. When we are searching through the channels we pass up a channel because we dont see something appealing in looks.Well even though Susan Boyle didnt win but, i wish more people like her could win competions like that on Britains got talent and even other shows that i know we all watch American idol.

Well I think that the people that should win talent show competitions should not just be based upon looks or talent, but also variety and what is the most entertaining for the crowd. Susan Boyle did not win because people found a dance act a lot more fascinating than a singing act. When you here her sing, it is almost always the same type of song and style. When you are watching a dance group, they have more variety of moves which overall makes the act more interesting.
