Brave New Future

The novel is an interesting one. It has complexity and an interesting aspect on how the world could be. It's almost kind of frightening to believe that a society like that is not very science fiction story material anymore. The world in which we live is slowly turning into a newer one; one that is resembling other societies that were imagined by science fiction writers in the earlier years. What made those writers so disgusted with their own societies that they had to create one of their own? Was it they saw how our Earth is being changed or is it they were scared of our rapidly progressing societies?

Only twenty short years ago computers made their first debut. Now they are everywhere! A hundred years ago, cars were a symbol of luxury and power; now if you don't have one your basically an outsider. Our world is rapidly accelerating and imagine if it continues on this path, where will we be in twenty more years? How would this generation differ from theirs? Would it be as drastic as the sixties to the seventies? We need to keep our eyes open to change and the change our future will take will be noticeable.

Who knows? maybe in a few short centuries we will be the people that are described in "Brave New World". Or maybe we will turn out like the "Jetsons" or the society of "Back to the Future Part 2". The doors are open for us to make the correct decisions to have a respectable future. One that would be cherished, just like the past is cherished now

  1. But what are the correct decisions?! What makes us think that we're going down the wrong path or the right one? I can't imagine a world where people kill each other day to day but here we are living in it.
I noticed that when you described how the future might be you only put options of what we think to be futuristic ideas. Why wouldn't we go back in time if that time was so "cherished"?

  2. I agree and find it very true that the world today is progressing quickly and advancing in fields such as technology, and this novel could very well predict what might happen in the future. But again in my opinion no matter how things change its all based on an individual’s perspective. For example some people today think that things such as the internet should not have been invented because they look at the bad things that could happen, such as an information stealing virus, or online predators, etc. On the other hand another user may think the internet is the best thing that’s happened in the world because they are able to keep in touch with others, gather research quickly, and much more.
